​The Kruger National Park is one of the largest game reserves in Africa. It covers an area of 19,485 square km (7,523 sq mi) and is located in northeastern part of South Africa and extends 360 km (220 mi) from north to south and 65 km (40 mi) from east to west.The Kruger National Park is home to some 147 species of South African mammals. The Kruger is famous for the Big 5: elephants, rhino, lions, leopards and buffalo and there’s more than 500 bird species and the Approximately 200 of these are migratory birds from Eurasia and North Africa.

Your accommodation is at our own private luxury bush lodge in Marloth Park, a nature conservation area on the Kruger National Park border, it hosts a wide variety of "plains game" antelope species, such as Kudu, Wildebeest, Zebra,Impala, Bush Buck, and regular visits from Giraffe to Tusk Bush Lodge, you can expect some really close encounters and experiences with our local wildlife.

The perfect start to your Safari, with beautiful wildlife portrait possibilities, and depending on the time of year there is a diverse amount of birdlife.

We base any of our tented safaris from the Lower Sabi Rest Camp, which is at the Southern end of KNP and close to the Crocodile Bridge gate.

We will be using open safari vehicles and we will attempt to have only one or two photographers per row .

Recommended Equipment and Clothing

  • DSLR ( with a knowledge and understanding of its functions and features)

  • Extra batteries and chargers

  • Telephoto lens (300mm or more + converter) or Zoom lens like Sigma/Tamron 150-600.

  • A wide angle lens/standard zoom preferably on a separate camera body.

  • Tripod/monopod/bean bag ( we can also supply our guests with these items to use free of charge )

  • Good light camera bag that complies to hand luggage regulations with rain cover always a bonus

  • Camera sensor cleaning kit

  • Any extra camera equipment like flash, filters…

  • Laptop ?

  • Extra memory cards 

  • Memory card reader

  • External travel Hardrive

  • Passport & Visas if needed (make colour copies of all your documents and keep them in a different place than your documents.

  • Travel & Medical insurance is compulsory

  • Get some SA Rands currency on landing in JHB from a cashpoint.

  • Appropriate shoes ( light hiking boots etc)

  • Comfortable shoes/sandals for around the camp/lodge

  • Neutral colored clothes for field trips

  • Warm clothes for winter (June – September) as nights & early mornings can be quite chilly

  • Wide-rim hat to protect your face & neck from the African sun

  • Sunblock (high SPF)

  • Insect repellent

  • Your personal toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste etc.)

  • Torch/headlight (incl. extra batteries)

  • Little note book and 2-3 pens

  • Light raincoat 

  • Sunglasses

  • Electrical adapter ( make sure it’s for South Africa )
